Biography
Wenqi ZHAO was born in China in 1994. She started playing the piano at the age of 4 and at the age of 11 she was accepted into the Music High School in her hometown of Fuzhou. At the age of 15, she continued the music high school of the China Conservatory of Music in Beijing.
From 2012 to 2016 she studied piano at the “China Conservatory of Music” with Prof. JingJing LIN (Singapore) in Beijing. After completing her bachelor’s degree with distinction, she went to Germany to continue her studies in Berlin. During this time she visited sixteen cities in Germany to attend master classes and concerts.
From 2017 to 2020 she studied in Vienna and obtained the “Certificate for Piano Performance” with distinction from the Vienna Music and Art University. Since September 2020 she has been completing her master’s degree in piano performance with Prof. Karl-Andreas Kolly at the Zurich University of the Arts in Zurich.
She completed master courses with master master Mr. Paul Badura-Skoda (1927-2019), master master Mr. Jörg Demus (1928-2019) and so on.

As a soloist, chamber musician and vocal art direction, she plays regularly in Asia and Europe:

- Haydn Hall of Esterhazy Palace in Eisenstadt (Austria)
- Chamber music concert in Voith – Villa, St. Pölten (Austria)
- Vocal concert with Anna Nekhames in the Bösendorfer Salon at the Musikverein (Austria)
- Piano recital in the Palais Ehrbar in Vienna (Austria)
- Benefit concert in the nursing home of ÖJAB, which received a lot of positive feedback (Austria)
Prizes
- 1st prize at the 59th International GROTRIAN-STEINWEG piano competition in honor of Clara Schumann (Asia / Pacific) in the Beethoven group (2014)
- 4th prize at the Leschetizky piano competition and the scholarship to participate in the International Summer Academy Theodor Leschetizky in Vienna (2015)
- Award at the 18th OSAKA International Music Competition in Vienna and the final in Japan (2017)
- 1st prize at the 4th TOYAMA youth piano competition in Fujian Province and final in Hong Kong (2009)
- 1st prize at the Taiwan Music Festival in the piano group (2006)
